Ingredients
  

  • 350 g flour
  • 243 ml warm water
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm water, yeast, and sugar.
  2. Add the flour and salt, then mix and fold until a dough forms. Cover and let rest for 1 1/2 hours.
  3. Lightly flour your work surface and divide the dough into 3 equal pieces. Shape into balls, cover, and let rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Flatten each ball, fold and seal with your fingers. Place on an oven rack or tray, cover, and let rest for 15 minutes.
  5. Bake at 490°F (255°C) for 5 minutes with steam.
  6. Reduce the oven temperature to 380°F (195°C) and bake for 15 more minutes.

Notes

• Adding steam at the beginning helps create a crisp crust.
• Let the baguettes cool before slicing for the best texture.
• Lightly flour the top before baking for a classic look.
